A “Smart Swap!” allows you to enjoy your favorite types of foods while cutting calories from your diet. If you’re a regular at Starbucks like I am, you’ll find it’s an important place to apply smart switches, because before you know it you can easily sip down a meal’s worth of calories!
Here’s my current favorite way to save some serious calories: Swap a Grande White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino at 480 calories for a Grande While Chocolate Frappuccino Light at 180 calories to save 300 calories on your next visit!

I may go to a coffee shop twice a day. The first time I have black coffee and a plain croissant – never an almond croissant. The second time I have bottled water and read a paper.

Some things we put in our coffee without thinking but aren’t really necessary for our enjoyment. For example, I was always a cream and sugar kinda girl but realized recently that it won’t kill me to hold the cream or milk. I’m developing a taste for coffee with minimal sugar too and even black coffee depending on the roast or brand.

Counting calories …is no way to live your life. There is no point in eating or drinking something if you can’t even enjoy it. Of course you should definitely remove a few ingredients, if your meal or beverage is completely smothered in unnecessary extra ingrediants that you know deep down inside, will make you gain weight. But please don’t make your life miserable by cutting back on food and drinks that you enjoy. If you would like to learn more about: calorie counting, low carb diets, and low fat diets then you should check out the link provided.

A tall skinny hazelnut latte at Starbucks is only 90 calories!
Taco Bell is one of my favorite fast food eateries, but it can be super-tough to keep your calorie count in check there. One way I have found to satisfy my cravings without blowing my day’s calorie count is to find foods on the menu that have similar flavors to my high-cal picks, but fewer calories.
… And of course, that’s what making a “Smart Swap!” is all about! If you can find easy ways to savor your favorite treats without blowing your calorie budget, you’ve made a huge step toward long-term weight loss success.
My current fave switch at the Bell? If I really want a Chicken Ranch Taco Salad, I rein my calorie spending by swapping the 900-calorie salad for a Fresco Ranchero Chicken Soft Taco. If I add it a side of Mexican rice, I’ll still only be taking in 300 calories, a savings of a whopping 600 calories!

Nothing’s more American than apple pie. While pie may be a calorie-buster unless enjoyed in moderation … The good news is, pies can actually have some plus points: Vitamins, minerals and fiber can all be found in a homemade fruit pie.
Let’s see how the calories stack up if you make a swap among two popular pie varieties. (Slice of a 9 inch pie is about one-sixth.)
Pecan pie: 678 calories
Apple: 525 calories
For a savings of about 150 calories if you swap down-south fave pecan pie, for all-American fave, apple, you’ll be getting in phytonutrients that might help fight certain cancers. Apples also contain a flavanoid known as quercetin which may also help in cancer fighting and strengthen your immune system. Bye-bye pecans, hello apples!
